If you are staying with us in the Nias-KeyHole surf camp, and to explore the famous waves in Nias and nearby, then why not take a boat trip with us on board Ono Niha, which departs from Lagundri Bay and heads to Telo Island or north to Banyaks trough Asu – Hinakos and Afulu the top of Nias.
Nias is one of the perfect right-handers in the world at Sorake Bay on Nias island is the first world class wave found in the Sumatra region.
The April 28 earthquake has blessed the Nias region in terms of surfing, increasing tides and improving the quality of the waves, because the waves take on large sizes and can be traced to all tides!
The biggest swell ever July 25, 2018 and hit Nias, The Swellnet gave the name – Captain Timmy, however the strong energy of the swell and one of our speedboat with out engine on board and snapped the rope from the anchored and drifted in the lineup and gets smashed up on the reef and lucky no one get hurt in the lineup during that swell

The boat is an Indonesian traditional wooden boat, originally built for traditional Indonesian fishing boats on the West coast of Sumatra – Sibolga area. We get her and rebuild as surf charter since 2015, and we named her ONO NIHA Surf Charter. Ono Niha meaning is The Original Nias peoples (People Who’s born on the island of Nias)
She is powered by an RD8 NISSAN engine giving her speeds up to 8 knots. She was Indonesian National Law. She has all the required safety equipment which includes: 25 persons life-raft, lifejackets, flares, fire fighting equipment, ICOM HF Radio,Depth Sounder, GPS, radar, and an extensive medical kit
